As the editor of this book, i am reluctant to jot down a review of it--but clearly not reluctant enough!

I've edited half dozen of those books, and that i am most happy with this one. i believe the essays manage to be entertaining, to supply broad coverage of divergent areas of philosophy, and conjointly demonstrate love of the show--all things the series arrange to capture in every of its books.

An Exemplary Anthology

I hope I will not be suspected of overstating the virtues of this book once I say that this is often the one finest philosophy anthology that I've ever encountered--and, believe me, I've seen my justifiable share of them. Curd and canopy need to be commended--and I hereby commend them--for their work in editing this volume. Not solely have they created compiled a really helpful anthology of roughly fifty picks in modern philosophy of science, however they've included a really important quantity of original editorial material. Indeed, I've never seen a philosophy anthology with editorial material anywhere close to this in depth or useful. Curd and canopy offer the reader with introductions to every section; detailed and thoughtful commentaries, several of that are forty to fifty pages long, on the readings at the top every|of every} section; a twenty-page glossary of terms; and in depth bibliographies on each of the topics coated. Roughly a 3rd of this book, that is 1300+ pages long, has been written by the editors.
